Dr. Bashir Aliyu Umar is a prominent figure in Islamic finance and banking in Nigeria. He is a seasoned banker, economist, and investor, with a strong background in Islamic finance and real estate. He is known for his deep knowledge and expertise in Islamic banking and finance, particularly regarding Shari’ah issues, and is considered a leading intellectual pundit in the field. 
He is an alumnus of Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, Nigeria, where he studied Electrical Engineering.

He has served as the chairman of the Shari’ah Advisory Committee of Stanbic IBTC Bank Plc (Nigeria), and currently serves on the Shari’ah Committee of the International Islamic Liquidity Management Corporation and the Council of Experts on Islamic Banking of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN).
