was born in Kano State, to Mallam Abdullahi Abubakar Lukat and Hajiya Huwaila Abdu Abubakar Lukat. She is the third of eleven siblings.
She had her primary education at Boro Boarding Primary School, Zaria and her secondary education at Louis Secondary School, Kano, Kano. She was admitted to Bayero University, Kano, where she studied Political Science and graduated in 1989. Amina studied for a Diploma in Arabic and Islamic Studies at Al-Manar International College, Kaduna.
