President Kano LeadsBarrister Aisha Ibrahim Dankani MFR, mni Barrister Aisha I. Dankani is an accomplished legal practitioner, public administrator, and entrepreneur with decades of distinguished service in Nigeria’s judiciary and federal civil service. Called to the Nigerian Bar in 1986, she began her career on the bench as a Magistrate before joining the Federal Civil Service in 1995, where she rose to the rank of Director across multiple ministries. Her leadership roles included Director of Legal Services at the Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Development, Director of Administration and Supplies at the Ministry of Police Affairs and Science and Technology, and Director of Planning, Research & Statistics in the Ministry of Commerce and Industry. She is renowned for reviving dormant projects, enforcing reforms, promoting ICT adoption among staff, championing women’s and children’s rights (including contributing to the Child Rights Decree), and enhancing pension administration. Barrister Dankani has served on numerous boards and committees, including the Nigeria National Merit Awards Board, Police Pension Board, Bank of Industry, Standards Organization of Nigeria, and Nigeria Customs. She has also contributed to national reforms as Secretary or Member of high-level committees on Child Rights, CEDEAW implementation, Public Service Reform, Customs Reform, and Prerogative of Mercy. Internationally, she served as the UNIDO National Program Coordinator. A respected member of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), Nigerian Institute of Management (MNIM), and National Institute (MNI), she was also a founding member and Vice-President of the Federation of Women Lawyers (FIDA) Kano Chapter. Beyond public service, Barrister Dankani is a successful entrepreneur, chairing Dankani Guest Palace and serving as Director of Fabs Investment Ltd. She is active in civil society and advocacy, including as Chairperson of Kano LEADS Initiative, member of Northern Elders Forum Think Tank, Buhari Vendors Worldwide, and President of St Louis Old Girls Association. Her dedication to good governance, women’s empowerment, and community development is reflected in her work with numerous NGOs and civil society groups. She is also the proprietress of Darul Quran Islamic Centre in Abuja. Barrister Aisha Ibrahim Dankani was conferred with the national honour of MFR (Member of the Order of the Federal Republic) in 2004.
